UNOFFICIAL COPY 24 RS BR 1380 Page 1 of 2 XXXX 1/4/2024 10:39 AM Jacketed A RESOLUTION adjourning the Senate in honor and loving memory of Blanche 1 Justice Branham. 2 WHEREAS, one of five children, Blanche Branham was born on March 7, 1929, to 3 the late Roy Abner Justice and Delphia Justice; and 4 WHEREAS, Blanche Branham pursued education when few others did. She began 5 her education journey by teaching in a one room school at Poor Bottom and culminated 6 her career with 25 years as a principal; and 7 WHEREAS, Blanche Branham completed her Rank One Certification, and while 8 teaching at Millard Elementary School, the school was recognized by Redbook Magazine 9 as one of the nation's outstanding schools; one of only three schools in Kentucky so 10 acknowledged; and 11 WHEREAS, Blanche Branham was honored and inducted into the University of 12 Pikeville Distinguished Educators Hall of Fame, the Hellier High School Hall of Fame, 13 and also received a Kentucky Colonel recognition, which she proudly displayed on her 14 wall; and 15 WHEREAS, Blanche Branham's legacy was rising from hardship and educating 16 herself, then helping thousands of other do the same; and 17 WHEREAS, Blanche Branham was a Christian member of the First Baptist Church 18 of Pikeville. She had noted in her Bible, "Here is my life, God, you fill in the blanks"; 19 and 20 WHEREAS, Blanche Branham passed from this life to the next on December 23, 21 2023; and 22 WHEREAS, in addition to her parents, Blanche Branham is preceded in death by 23 her beloved husband, James Branham; her sister, Berniece Newsome, and her brothers, 24 Lawson, Clinton, and Roger Justice. She is survived by her two children, Teresa (Lewis) 25 Robinson and Doug (Felicia) Branham; her grandchildren, Heather, Stacey, Brittany, 26 Alaka, Twilla, Tara, Justin, and Danielle; and her great-grandchildren, Reagan, Evan, 27 UNOFFICIAL COPY 24 RS BR 1380 Page 2 of 2 XXXX 1/4/2024 10:39 AM Jacketed Anne, and Woodford; 1 NOW, THEREFORE, 2 Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of 3 Kentucky: 4 Section 1. The members of the Senate hereby extend their most profound 5 sympathy upon the passing Blanche Justice Branham, and posthumously thank her for 6 her contributions and commitment to educating her fellow Kentuckians. 7 Section 2. When the Senate adjourns this day, it does so in honor and loving 8 memory of Blanche Justice Branham. 9 Section 3. The Clerk of the Senate is directed to transmit a copy of this 10 Resolution to Senator Philip Wheeler for delivery to the family. 11
