A RESOLUTION adjourning the Senate in honor and loving memory of Wayne J. 1 
Farris. 2 
WHEREAS, Wayne J. Farris was born on July 18, 1939, in Corbin, Kentucky, to 3 
the late Emery Jewell Farris and Lillie Ruth McCracken Farris; and 4 
WHEREAS, Wayne Farris started his education at Pineville High School and later 5 
graduated from Castle Heights Military Academy in 1957. He then attended the 6 
University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy, graduating in 1961; and 7 
WHEREAS, Wayne Farris was the Director of Pharmacy at Harlan Appalachian 8 
Regional Healthcare Hospital and Pineville Community Health Center before he opened 9 
Farris Drugs in Pineville and Farris Pharmacy in Barbourville; and 10 
WHEREAS, Wayne Farris shared 61 years of marriage with his beloved wife, 11 
Gwendolyn Sue Farris, who he met during their work at Harlan Appalachian Regional 12 
Healthcare Hospital; and 13 
WHEREAS, beyond his role as a pharmacist, Wayne Farris dedicated over five 14 
decades to the Republican Party, which earned him the prestigious induction into the 15 
Fifth Congressional District Hall of Fame; and 16 
WHEREAS, Wayne Farris's community involvement included his service on the 17 
Pineville City Council, membership in Masonic Lodge "Bell Lodge 691," service as 18 
former president of the Pineville Rotary Club, chairman of the Southeast Kentucky 19 
Community and Technical College Nomination Board, board member on the Pineville 20 
Utility Commission, and board member on the Kentucky Mountain Laurel Festival board 21 
of directors; and 22 
WHEREAS, Wayne Farris lived a full life as a faithful Christian. He was a member 23 
of First Baptist Church of Pineville where he served as a Sunday School teacher and 24 
deacon for several decades; and 25 
WHEREAS, Wayne Farris loved spending his time with his family, children, and 26

WHEREAS, Wayne Farris was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Gwendolyn 1 
Sue Farris; and his sister, Carolyn Farris; and 2 
WHEREAS, Wayne Farris is survived by his three children, Greg Farris, Lisa 3 
(Barry) Bingham, and Suzanne (Brad) Loutsenhizer; his grandchildren, William "Will" 4 
Farris, Jackson Farris, Anna Katherine Bingham, Andrew Bingham, Adam Loutsenhizer, 5 
and Alexandra "Alexa" Loutsenhizer; nephew, Dann (Dawn) Adams; niece, Cynthia 6 
(Dave) Adams-Coombes; grandnephews, Spencer Adams, Chase Adams, and Griffith 7 
Adams; and a host of extended family and cherished friends who will deeply miss him; 8 
and 9 
WHEREAS, Wayne Farris left this world and those around him better off with his 10 
wisdom, kindness, and love; 11 
NOW, THEREFORE, 12 
Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of 13 
Kentucky: 14 
Section 1.   The Senate does hereby express its most profound sympathy upon 15 
the passing of Wayne J. Farris, and extends heartfelt condolences to his family in this 16 
time of loss. 17 
Section 2.   When the Senate adjourns this day, it does so in honor and loving 18 
memory of Wayne J. Farris. 19 
Section 3. The Clerk of the Senate is directed to transmit a copy of this 20 
Resolution to Senator Brandon Storm for delivery to the family. 21
