A RESOLUTION honoring Nelson County Sheriff Ramon Pineiroa Jr. for being 1
selected 2023 Sheriff of the Year. 2
WHEREAS, Sheriff Ramon Pineiroa Jr. is a longtime resident of Nelson County, 3
living in the county for since 1995; and 4
WHEREAS, Sheriff Pineiroa is a proud veteran of the United States Army, serving 5
from 1993 to 2002. He distinguished himself through completing the United States Army 6
Primary Leadership Development Course and having attained the rank of Sergeant. His 7
service record includes experience as a Cavalry Scout, Squad Leader, Section Sergeant, 8
and Training Non-Commissioned Officer for the Armor Officer Basic Course; and 9
WHEREAS, Sheriff Pineiroa has been a member of the Nelson County Sheriff's 10
Office since 2006, achieving Peace Officer Professional Standards certification and 11
completing the Department of Criminal Justice Training's Academy of Police 12
Supervision; and 13
WHEREAS, Sheriff Pineiroa's experience with the office prior to his being elected 14
sheriff includes service as a Patrol Deputy, Sergeant, Lieutenant, and Assistant Sheriff. In 15
those positions, he demonstrated his professional dedication and drive; and 16
WHEREAS, Sheriff Pineiroa was elected as Nelson County Sheriff in 2020; and 17
WHEREAS, Sheriff Pineiroa was selected as 2023 Sheriff of the Year by his fellow 18
sheriffs at the Kentucky Sheriffs' Association's 2023 Annual Conference; and 19
WHEREAS, Sheriff Pineiroa was further honored by the fiscal court of his home 20
county of Nelson through the passage of an order designating September 14 as "Sheriff 21
Ramon Pineiroa Day"; and 22
WHEREAS, Sheriff Pineiroa is an adept fundraiser and dedicated volunteer for 23
many worthy causes, including coaching and mentoring the youth of Bardstown and 24
Nelson County; and 25
WHEREAS, Sheriff Pineiroa is a faithful member of the St. Thomas Catholic 26

WHEREAS, Sheriff Pineiroa is the loving and beloved husband of his wife, Tania, 1
and is the doting father of his children, Gabbie, Savannah, and Riley; 2
NOW, THEREFORE, 3
Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of 4
Kentucky: 5
Section 1. The Senate recognizes Sheriff Ramon Pineiroa Jr.'s lifelong 6
dedication and service to protecting the citizens of the United States of America through 7
his time with the United States Army, as well as protecting the citizens of Nelson County 8
through his time with the Nelson County Sheriff's Office. 9
Section 2. The Senate congratulates Sheriff Ramon Pineiroa Jr. on his selection 10
as 2023 Sheriff of the Year. 11
Section 3. When the Senate adjourns this day, it does so in honor of Sheriff 12
Ramon Pineiroa Jr. 13
Section 4. The Clerk of the Senate is directed to transmit a copy of this 14
Resolution to Senator Jimmy Higdon for presentation to Sheriff Ramon Pineiroa Jr. 15
