UNOFFICIAL COPY 24 RS BR 1679 Page 1 of 2 XXXX 1/23/2024 8:45 AM Jacketed A RESOLUTION adjourning the Senate in honor and loving memory of Charles 1 David Haydon. 2 WHEREAS, Charles David Haydon was born on June 26, 1952, to Albert and 3 Leona Haydon; and 4 WHEREAS, Charles David Haydon was an astute and accomplished businessman, 5 having served as President and CEO of Haydon Holdings until his retirement in 6 December of 2021. He also served as the Chairperson of the Kentucky Crushed Stone 7 Association, President of the PlantMix Asphalt Industry of Kentucky, President of 8 Kentuckians for Better Transportation, and on the Board of Directors of the Kentucky 9 Association of Highway Contractors; and 10 WHEREAS, Charles David Haydon was a pillar of the Bardstown community. He 11 served on the board of St. Joseph School, the Bethlehem High School Foundation, and 12 the Spalding Hall Association, where he and his family worked diligently to restore 13 Spalding Hall to its historic splendor; and 14 WHEREAS, after a valiant battle with pancreatic cancer, Charles David Haydon 15 peacefully traversed the earthly bounds on January 15, 2024, while surrounded by family; 16 and 17 WHEREAS, Charles David Haydon was preceded in death by his parents; brother 18 Greg Haydon; sister Sherry Haydon Bruce; and brother-in-law Bill Barnes; and 19 WHEREAS, Charles David Haydon is survived by his wife, Mary Stuart Spalding 20 Haydon; his sons, Stuart (Lynn) Haydon and Joseph (Cassie) Haydon; his daughter, 21 Charley Haydon; his two precious grandchildren, Mary Claire and Jack Haydon; his 22 siblings Mary Florence Barnes, Joseph "Jodie" (Carolyn) Haydon, Norma Jean (Ben 23 Barber) Haydon, Steve (Carole) Haydon, Cathy Greer, Charlotte (John) Bickel, John 24 (Mary Ellen) Haydon, and Paul (Umara) Haydon; his brother-in-law Karlos Bruce; and 25 many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews; and 26 WHEREAS, the legacy of Charles David Haydon will live on through his family 27 UNOFFICIAL COPY 24 RS BR 1679 Page 2 of 2 XXXX 1/23/2024 8:45 AM Jacketed and for generations to come; 1 NOW, THEREFORE, 2 Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of 3 Kentucky: 4 Section 1. The Senate extends its deepest sympathy upon the passing of Charles 5 David Haydon and expresses heartfelt condolences to all his family, friends, and the 6 Bardstown community. 7 Section 2. When the Senate adjourns this day, it does so in honor and loving 8 memory of Charles David Haydon. 9 Section 3. The Clerk of the Senate is directed to transmit a copy of this 10 Resolution to Senator Jimmy Higdon for delivery to the family. 11
