UNOFFICIAL COPY 25 RS BR 1835 Page 1 of 2 XXXX 2/18/2025 8:40 PM Jacketed A JOINT RESOLUTION designating the Ermal Tackett Memorial Highway in 1 Floyd County. 2 WHEREAS, Ermal Tackett was born on December 26, 1936, to Emma Tackett and 3 Greenbird Tackett; 4 WHEREAS, after Ermal Tackett graduated from Betsy Layne High School in 1956, 5 he immediately dedicated himself to a life of hard work, taking on a myriad of positions, 6 including selling vacuum cleaners, driving coal trucks, and operating heavy equipment; 7 and 8 WHEREAS, Ermal Tackett served his community as a magistrate for 17 years 9 before retiring in 2003; and 10 WHEREAS, Ermal Tackett is remembered for having a servant's heart and a deep 11 compassion for others. He would ensure he was home each night to take constituent calls 12 and kept an ongoing list of needs that were brought to his attention so he could work to 13 resolve each one as best as he could; and 14 WHEREAS, Ermal Tackett was a strong Christian who is remembered for his faith 15 in Christ and was saved and baptized at Betsy Layne Freewill Baptist Church on July 13, 16 2006; and 17 WHEREAS, Ermal Tackett left these earthly bounds on April 3, 2022, and is 18 survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Nell Davis Tackett, and his children, Sherry 19 Kimbler and Ernie Tackett; and 20 WHEREAS, Ermal Tackett's memory lives on in the lives of the loved ones he 21 leaves behind and in the heart of a thankful community; 22 NOW, THEREFORE, 23 Be it resolved by the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky: 24 ď˘Section 1. The Transportation Cabinet shall designate a portion of Kentucky 25 Route 979 in Floyd County, from mile point 15.7 to mile point 18.4, as the "Ermal 26 Tackett Memorial Highway" and shall, within 30 days of the effective date of this 27 UNOFFICIAL COPY 25 RS BR 1835 Page 2 of 2 XXXX 2/18/2025 8:40 PM Jacketed Resolution, erect appropriate signage denoting this designation. 1
