A RESOLUTION adjourning the House of Representatives in honor and loving 1
memory of baby Miya Rudd. 2
WHEREAS, Miya Rudd was born on October 12, 2023, in Owensboro, Kentucky; 3
and 4
WHEREAS, Miya Rudd returned to her heavenly father in the Spring of 2024; and 5
WHEREAS, Miya Rudd was considered a bundle of sunshine by her family from 6
the very beginning, so much so that they lovingly called her "Smiley"; and 7
WHEREAS, Miya Rudd was a beloved sister who leaves behind two brothers, one 8
sister, and a host of other family and friends to cherish her memory; and 9
WHEREAS, the circumstances related to Miya Rudd's death have emboldened 10
child welfare advocates in Kentucky to seek better protections for vulnerable children in 11
the Commonwealth who may be experiencing neglect or abuse; 12
NOW, THEREFORE, 13
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the General Assembly of the 14
Commonwealth of Kentucky: 15
Section 1. The House of Representatives hereby expresses its most profound 16
sympathy upon the passing of baby Miya Rudd. 17
Section 2. When the House of Representatives adjourns this day, it does so in 18
honor and loving memory of Miya Rudd. 19
Section 3. The Clerk of the House of Representatives is directed to transmit a 20
copy of this Resolution to Representative Scott Lewis for delivery. 21
