Crager was born in Prestonsburg, Kentucky, and called 3 Flatwoods, Kentucky, home for more than 55 years, becoming a pillar of the community 4 through his work as a public servant, educator, and leader, as well as a beloved friend, 5 devoted husband, dedicated father, proud grandfather, and cherished great-grandfather; 6 and 7 WHEREAS, Bobby F. Crager served his country honorably in the United States Air 8 Force from 1956 to 1960, exemplifying his commitment to his country, and later devoted 9 26 years to the Flatwoods City Council, and held the distinction of being the longest-10 serving mayor in the city's history, working every day to improve the lives of the 11 community of Flatwoods, leaving a lasting impact on the city he so highly revered; and 12 WHEREAS, in addition to his public service, Bobby F. Crager was a founding 13 member of the Flatwoods Lions Club, for which he dedicated his time as treasurer, and 14 where he worked to support projects, charities, and initiatives that helped develop and 15 strengthen the community; and 16 WHEREAS, Bobby F. Crager was a beloved biology teacher and a remarkable 17 football coach at Prestonsburg High School, and later served in the Russell Independent 18 School System as the principal of McDowell Elementary School; and 19 WHEREAS, Bobby F. Crager was a faithful servant of the Lord, held various 20 leadership roles in the church community, and was a Sunday School teacher at Advance 21 Methodist Church in Flatwoods, Kentucky, where he inspired the community through his 22 kindness, faith, and leadership; and 23 WHEREAS, Bobby F. Crager was preceded in death by his parents, Woodrow and 24 Marietta Bingham Crager; his brother, James Buford Crager; and his sister, Barbara Lynn 25 Knicley Hoyle; and 26 WHEREAS, Bobby F. Crager is survived by his devoted wife of 61 years, Judith 27 UNOFFICIAL COPY 25 RS BR 2000 Page 2 of 2 XXXX 3/3/2025 3:57 PM Jacketed Hicks Crager; his daughters, Jennifer (Kelly) Crager Justice and Lea Ann (Keith) Crager 1 Hillman; his grandchildren, Blake (Julia) Justice and Morgan (Brendon) Gannon; as well 2 as his great-granddaughter, Violet Justice; and 3 WHEREAS, Bobby F. Crager is further survived by his dear sister, Brenda (Jack) 4 Helton Davis; his sisters-in-law, Jenny Crager, Janet Hicks, and Brenda Porter; his 5 brother-in-law, Jeffrey Hicks; along with the loving faculty and staff of McDowell 6 Elementary School; and 7 WHEREAS, it is with great sorrow that we acknowledge the passing of Bobby F. 8 Crager, who departed this earthly life peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on 9 February 14, 2025, at the age of 86, leaving behind a legacy of service, friendship, and 10 faith; 11 NOW, THEREFORE, 12 Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of 13 Kentucky: 14 Section 1. The Senate expresses its most profound sympathy upon the passing 15 of Bobby F. Crager and extends heartfelt condolences to all his family, friends, and 16 community. 17 Section 2. When the Senate adjourns this day, it does so in honor and loving 18 memory of Bobby F. Crager. 19 Section 3. The Clerk of the Senate is directed to transmit a copy of this 20 Resolution to Senator Robin L. Webb for delivery to the family. 21
