UNOFFICIAL COPY 25 RS BR 1972 Page 1 of 2 XXXX 2/25/2025 10:53 AM Jacketed A RESOLUTION recognizing and honoring Senator Aaron Reed as the first Navy 1 SEAL to serve in the Kentucky Senate. 2 WHEREAS, the Kentucky Senate takes great pride in acknowledging Senator 3 Aaron Reed, a native of Shelbyville, Kentucky, who has demonstrated exemplary service, 4 discipline, respect, and excellence for his country and Shelby County community; and 5 WHEREAS, established in 1962 by President John F. Kennedy, the United States 6 Navy Sea, Air, and Land Teams (SEALs) are an elite maritime military force, 7 specializing in unconventional warfare, capable of operating to execute high-risk 8 missions that are vital for national security; and 9 WHEREAS, following the tragic terrorist attacks of the September 11, 2001, the 10 then 24 year-old Aaron Reed answered the call to serve, fighting on the front lines with 11 unwavering courage and dedication; and 12 WHEREAS, throughout his distinguished military career, Senator Aaron Reed was 13 actively engaged in highly specialized and covert operations to combat zones, including 14 Iraq and Afghanistan, conducting hundreds of missions to uphold the values of freedom 15 and democracy; and 16 WHEREAS, Senator Aaron Reed has dedicated over 22 years of service to the 17 United States Navy as a Navy SEAL, attaining the rank of Senior Chief before his 18 retirement in December 2021; and 19 WHEREAS, after retiring from active duty, Senator Aaron Reed continued his 20 commitment to service by becoming a successful entrepreneur, founding and operating 21 local businesses Kodiak Koating and Ops Supply, which have contributed to the 22 economic growth of Shelby County and surrounding communities; and 23 WHEREAS, driven by a passion to serve his fellow Kentuckians, Senator Aaron 24 Reed sought elected office and, in November 2024, was chosen by the people of District 25 7, which includes Anderson, Henry, Shelby, and part of Jefferson County, to represent 26 them in the Kentucky Senate; and 27 UNOFFICIAL COPY 25 RS BR 1972 Page 2 of 2 XXXX 2/25/2025 10:53 AM Jacketed WHEREAS, Senator Aaron Reed made history as the first Navy SEAL to serve in 1 the Kentucky Senate, bringing with him a depth of leadership experience and dedication 2 to the principles of honor, courage, and commitment; and 3 WHEREAS, since assuming office in 2025, Senator Aaron Reed has been a 4 dedicated member of the Kentucky Senate, tirelessly advocating for veterans affairs as 5 vice chair of the Veterans, Military Affairs, and Public Protection Committee, as well as 6 contributing his expertise to the Judiciary, Education, and Agriculture Committees; 7 NOW, THEREFORE, 8 Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of 9 Kentucky: 10 Section 1. The Senate hereby recognizes and honors Senator Aaron Reed for his 11 distinguished military service and his legislative service, as the first Navy SEAL elected 12 to the Kentucky Senate. 13 Section 2. The Senate expresses its profound appreciation for Senator Aaron 14 Reed's leadership and experience as a Navy SEAL as he represents the people of 15 Kentucky, and extends its best wishes for his continued success in public service. 16 Section 3. The Clerk of the Senate is directed to transmit a copy of this 17 Resolution to Senator Aaron Reed as a token of gratitude and recognition for his service 18 and excellence. 19
