UNOFFICIAL COPY 25 RS BR 313 Page 1 of 2 XXXX 10/7/2024 8:54 AM Jacketed A RESOLUTION recognizing Bill Bryant for 40 years of service with WKYT-TV. 1 WHEREAS, Bill Bryant was raised in Williamsburg in Whitley County, Kentucky; 2 and 3 WHEREAS, from a tender age Bill Bryant had the stirrings of a journalist, which 4 were realized during college where he studied broadcast journalism and political science 5 before taking an internship at WKYT-TV in Lexington, Kentucky, in 1984; and 6 WHEREAS, Bill Bryant has been an intrinsic part of WKYT-TV over his career 7 covering many varied news stories, while focusing on political coverage; and 8 WHEREAS, Bill Bryant's passion led him to launch WKYT-TV's notable program 9 "Kentucky Newsmakers," which has been on the air for almost four decades; and 10 WHEREAS, Bill Bryant's penchant for political coverage has led him to serve as 11 the moderator of many political debates, and to have the distinction of interviewing more 12 than a dozen governors of Kentucky along with other state and national leaders; and 13 WHEREAS, Bill Bryant's career at WKYT-TV has included tenures as daytime 14 anchor and reporter, the coveted evening and nighttime co-anchor, and interim news 15 director; and 16 WHEREAS, Bill Bryant's quality of reporting and professionalism has gained him 17 the respect of his coworkers and audience who depend on his reporting and analysis of 18 news events; and 19 WHEREAS, Bill Bryant has garnered many professional distinctions during his 20 time at WKYT-TV including his recent induction into the Kentucky Broadcasters 21 Association's Kentucky Mic Hall of Fame; and 22 WHEREAS, Mayor Linda Gorton declared September 29, 2024, "Bill Bryant Day" 23 in Lexington; and 24 WHEREAS, 2024 marks Bill Bryant's 40th year with WKYT-TV; 25 NOW, THEREFORE, 26 Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of 27 UNOFFICIAL COPY 25 RS BR 313 Page 2 of 2 XXXX 10/7/2024 8:54 AM Jacketed Kentucky: 1 Section 1.
