Bertram and Golda Risen 4 Bertram; and 5 WHEREAS, a devout Christian, Barry Bertram practiced his faith as a member of 6 the Campbellsville Baptist Church; and he dutifully spread the message of Christianity 7 through the Gideons International for 59 years, serving as state president for Gideons for 8 three years, attending 50 consecutive international conventions, and speaking regularly at 9 area churches on behalf of the organization; and 10 WHEREAS, Barry Bertram was an active participant in his community, serving as 11 a trustee of Campbellsville University for 19 years, an advisory director of the 12 Community Trust Bank for 34 years, and prior to that, a board member of First Federal 13 Savings and Loan; and 14 WHEREAS, Barry Bertram, a man of great character, also served his home state as 15 a Commonwealth's Attorney, always seeking a just and fair outcome for all parties 16 involved; and 17 WHEREAS, as a captivating and humorous storyteller, Barry Bertram enjoyed 18 sharing his life experiences and imparted many words of wisdom to his family, friends, 19 and colleagues; and 20 WHEREAS, in his free time, Barry Bertram loved to run, play tennis, golf, grab a 21 bite to eat at Jeff's Food Mart, and cheer on the University of Kentucky Wildcats; and 22 WHEREAS, Barry Bertram departed this earthly life on January 2, 2025, at the age 23 of 89, and joined his beloved wife, Margaret, in everlasting life. He is survived by his 24 four children, John Bertram (Leah); George "Chip" Bertram (Carolyn); Teri Campbell 25 (Dale); and Margaret "Kathy" McCabe (Scott); his six grandchildren, George Bertram, 26 Molly McCabe, Dillon McCabe, Sally McCabe, Grace Dickens (Jake), and Benjamin 27 UNOFFICIAL COPY 25 RS BR 1134 Page 2 of 2 XXXX 1/8/2025 4:19 PM Jacketed Bertram (Catherine Allen); his two great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn and George Bertram; 1 and brother, Phil Bertram (Missy); 2 NOW, THEREFORE, 3 Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of 4 Kentucky: 5 Section 1. The Senate expresses its most profound sympathy upon the passing 6 of Barry Bertram and extends heartfelt condolences to all his family, friends, and 7 community. 8 Section 2. When the Senate adjourns this day, it does so in honor and loving 9 memory of Barry Bertram. 10 Section 3. The Clerk of the Senate is directed to transmit a copy of this 11 Resolution to Senator Max Wise for delivery to the family. 12
