UNOFFICIAL COPY 25 RS BR 2029 Page 1 of 2 XXXX 3/12/2025 6:09 PM Jacketed A RESOLUTION recognizing September 17 to 23, 2025, as Constitution Week in 1 the Commonwealth of Kentucky. 2 WHEREAS, the Constitution of the United States, the guardian of our liberties, 3 embodies the principles of limited government in a republic dedicated to rule by law; and 4 WHEREAS, during the summer of 1787, 55 delegates from across the young 5 United States convened at the Pennsylvania State House in Philadelphia with the purpose 6 of establishing a government designed to endure for generations and safeguard the 7 cherished freedoms won through the Revolutionary War; and 8 WHEREAS, the result of their efforts-the Constitution of the United States-stands 9 as the foundation of our nation’s government, embodying the principles of equality under 10 the law and a steadfast dedication to individual liberty; and 11 WHEREAS, our rights and liberties are rooted in the Constitution of the United 12 States and its Bill of Rights, which gave birth to our great nation, and we, as Americans, 13 enjoy our freedom and rule of law through these cherished documents that our founding 14 fathers created; and 15 WHEREAS, September 17, 2025, marks the 238th anniversary of the framing of 16 the Constitution of the United States by the Constitutional Convention; and 17 WHEREAS, celebration of the Constitution of the United States was started when 18 the Daughters of the American Revolution petitioned Congress to set aside September 17 19 to 23 annually to be dedicated for the observance of Constitution Week; and 20 WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper to accord official recognition to this magnificent 21 document and its memorable anniversary, and to the patriotic celebrations which will 22 commemorate it; and 23 WHEREAS, it is fitting that we, the citizens of Kentucky, join the Daughters of the 24 American Revolution in observing Constitution Week from September 17 to 23, 2025, to 25 reflect upon and reaffirm our commitment to the ideals enshrined in this foundational 26 document; and 27 UNOFFICIAL COPY 25 RS BR 2029 Page 2 of 2 XXXX 3/12/2025 6:09 PM Jacketed WHEREAS, the members of the Senate extend their deepest appreciation to the 1 members of the John Guill-Polly Hawkins Craig Chapter of the National Society 2 Daughters of the American Revolution for their unwavering dedication to celebrating our 3 nation's history and hosting Constitution Week celebrations; 4 NOW, THEREFORE, 5 Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of 6 Kentucky: 7 Section 1. The members of the Senate hereby recognize September 17 to 23, 8 2025, as Constitution Week to celebrate the Constitution of the United States as the 9 cornerstone of our nation’s freedoms, embodying the principles set forth by the framers 10 in 1787. 11 Section 2. The Clerk of the Senate is directed to transmit a copy of this 12 Resolution to Senator Gex Williams. 13
