A RESOLUTION honoring Cecil "Ray" Roundtree for his service to Kentucky's 1 
students and teachers. 2 
WHEREAS, Cecil "Ray" Roundtree served Kentucky's students for a total of 42 3 
years. He retired from public education in 1992 after a career of 27 years with both the 4 
Kentucky Department of Education and the Laurel County School District. After his 5 
retirement, Ray Roundtree went on to contract with local school districts to assist with 6 
central office tasks for the next 15 years; and 7 
WHEREAS, Ray Roundtree's service to both active and retired teachers is second 8 
to none. He has been a member of the Kentucky Retired Teachers Association (KRTA) 9 
for 32 years and has served in almost every leadership capacity KRTA has to offer. Ray 10 
Roundtree was the state president from 1998 to 1999, served as a district president, local 11 
president, executive council member, and "lifetime co-chair" on KRTA's legislative 12 
committee; and 13 
WHEREAS, Ray Roundtree's contributions have personally touched many in his 14 
community and across the Commonwealth, including Senator Brandon Storm, who 15 
considers Ray Roundtree a dear friend and mentor whose immeasurable impact to Laurel 16 
County and beyond is deeply appreciated; 17 
NOW, THEREFORE, 18 
Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of 19 
Kentucky: 20 
Section 1.   The Senate hereby honors Cecil "Ray" Roundtree for his dedicated 21 
service to Kentucky's public education system. 22 
Section 2. The Clerk of the Senate is directed to transmit a copy of this 23 
Resolution to Senator Brandon Storm for delivery. 24
