A RESOLUTION adjourning the Senate in honor and loving memory of United 1
States Army Specialist Chaz R. McGowan. 2
WHEREAS, the Senate is profoundly saddened by the passing of United States 3
Army Specialist Chaz R. McGowan; and 4
WHEREAS, born on February 9, 1999, in Danville, Chaz McGowan was the son of 5
Marty Leon McGowan and Kelly Evans McGowan; and 6
WHEREAS, Specialist Chaz McGowan actively served in the United States Army's 7
2nd Cavalry Regiment as an Infantryman and he earned the Expert Infantryman Badge, 8
Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, National Defense Service 9
Medal, Army Service Ribbon, and Overseas Service Ribbon; and 10
WHEREAS, Specialist Chaz McGowan was a 2018 graduate of Casey County High 11
School and a member of Mt. Olive Christian Church. He enjoyed working out and was an 12
avid gamer; and 13
WHEREAS, on March 8, 2025, in Grafenwohr, Germany, Specialist Chaz 14
McGowan traversed these earthly bounds and left a void that can never be filled; and 15
WHEREAS, Specialist Chaz McGowan is survived by his loving parents, Marty 16
(Andrea) McGowan and Kelly (Rob O'Brien) Evans McGowan; siblings, Jake (Morgan 17
Smith) McGowan, Brody McGowan, Elle McGowan, Cory O'Brien, and Kimberly 18
O'Brien; grandparents, Greg and Kernetta Evans and Anthony and Linda Salyers; 19
godparents, Sherry and Barry Mullins; uncles, Jamie (Bobbie) McGowan, Justin (Holly) 20
Salyers, and Jeremy Evans; and aunt, Becky (Scott) Mullins. He was preceded in death 21
by his grandparents, Wendell and Judy McGowan; and 22
WHEREAS, Specialist Chaz McGowan was a dedicated soldier and a valued 23
member of his community who will be missed by a host of family and friends; 24
NOW, THEREFORE, 25
Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of 26

Section 1. The Senate hereby expresses its profound sense of sorrow upon the 1
passing of Specialist Chaz McGowan and extends its heartfelt condolences to his family, 2
friends, and community. 3
Section 2. When the Senate adjourns this day, it does so in honor and loving 4
memory of Specialist Chaz McGowan. 5
Section 3. The Clerk of the Senate is directed to transmit a copy of this 6
Resolution to Senator Brandon Storm for the delivery to the family as an expression of 7
the Senate's deepest sympathy and gratitude for Specialist Chaz McGowan's dedicated 8
service. 9
