UNOFFICIAL COPY 25 RS BR 2082 Page 1 of 2 XXXX 3/27/2025 7:49 PM Jacketed A RESOLUTION recognizing Ashton Feldhaus upon the occasion of her being 1 named head women's basketball coach at Morehead State University. 2 WHEREAS, Ashton Feldhaus, a native of Richmond, Kentucky, was a standout 3 prep basketball player at Madison Central High School, where she was a three-time All-4 District selection, two-time All-Region honoree, and First-Team All-State selection as a 5 senior. She helped her team win four straight district championships from 2010 to 2013, 6 as well as regional titles in 2011 and 2013; and 7 WHEREAS, Ashton Feldhaus' athletic pedigree runs deep in the Bluegrass State. 8 Her father, Allen, was a standout at Eastern Kentucky University and is currently the 9 head boys' basketball coach at Madison Central High School, where her mother, Karen, is 10 the head cheerleading coach. Her uncle, Deron, was a notable player at the University of 11 Kentucky, while her uncle, Willie, was a member of the Morehead State University men's 12 basketball program in the mid-1980s; and 13 WHEREAS, Ashton Feldhaus played collegiately for Butler University for one 14 year, then transferred to the University of Tennessee-Martin. In her first year at UT-15 Martin, Feldhaus earned Second-Team All-Ohio Valley Conference (OVC) honors and 16 OVC All-Newcomer honors and was a six-time conference Newcomer of the Week while 17 averaging 11.0 points and 5.1 rebounds per game in her first full season. As a senior, she 18 also earned Second-Team All-OVC honors; and 19 WHEREAS, after earning a bachelor's degree in Communications and a master's 20 degree in Family and Consumer Science from UT-Martin, Ashton Feldhaus embarked on 21 a career coaching women's college basketball, serving five seasons as the top assistant 22 and associate head coach for Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, Florida, where she helped 23 guide the Tritons to five straight National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) 24 Division II tournament appearances; and 25 WHEREAS, in 2024, Ashton Feldhaus was named head women's basketball coach 26 at Missouri Western University. Although the Griffons were picked to finish seventh in 27 UNOFFICIAL COPY 25 RS BR 2082 Page 2 of 2 XXXX 3/27/2025 7:49 PM Jacketed the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association, the team won 20 games, finished 1 third in the conference, and earned an at-large berth to the NCAA Division II tournament; 2 and 3 WHEREAS, Ashton Feldhaus is recognized as a rising star in the coaching ranks, 4 being named to the Women's Basketball Coaches Association 30 Under 30 Class; and 5 WHEREAS, on March 27, 2025, Ashton Feldhaus was named the head women's 6 basketball coach at Morehead State University; and 7 WHEREAS, the entire Morehead State community is thrilled to welcome home this 8 daughter of the Commonwealth to take over their women's basketball program, and the 9 excitement over the team's future is palpable; 10 NOW, THEREFORE, 11 Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of 12 Kentucky: 13 Section 1. The members of the Senate join Senator Robin Webb in 14 congratulating Ashton Feldhaus upon the occasion of her being named head women's 15 basketball coach at Morehead State University and wishing her and her teams good 16 fortune in all future endeavors. 17 Section 2. The Clerk of the Senate shall transmit a copy of this Resolution to 18 Senator Robin Webb for presentation to Ashton Feldhaus. 19
