UNOFFICIAL COPY 25 RS BR 1650 Page 1 of 2 XXXX 2/13/2025 9:00 AM Jacketed A RESOLUTION honoring Dr. Nick Carter for being named the 2025 Kentucky 1 Superintendent of the Year. 2 WHEREAS, this distinguished body holds in highest esteem those school 3 administrators who go above and beyond their daily duties to become exemplary leaders 4 in their profession and whose work touches their communities in profound and indelible 5 ways; and 6 WHEREAS, in this spirit, the members rightfully congratulate and commend Dr. 7 Nick Carter upon being named the 2025 Kentucky Superintendent of the Year by the 8 Kentucky Association of School Administrators (KASA); and 9 WHEREAS, since 2017, Dr. Carter has led Breckinridge County Schools with a 10 strategic vision focused on student success, staff development, and community 11 engagement. His leadership is deeply rooted in servant leadership principles, consistently 12 prioritizing the needs of students and staff. Under his guidance, the district has flourished, 13 earning recognition as one of Kentucky’s top school systems; and 14 WHEREAS, Dr. Carter earned his bachelor's and master's degree and Rank I 15 certifications from Western Kentucky University before completing his doctoral degree at 16 Morehead State University in 2018; and 17 WHEREAS, Dr. Carter’s career spans teaching, coaching, and leadership roles at 18 the elementary, high school, and district levels. Before becoming superintendent, he 19 served as principal of Breckinridge County High School for seven years, an elementary 20 assistant principal, and a high school social studies teacher and coach at John Hardin 21 High School and Breckinridge County High School. Since 2022, he has taught as an 22 adjunct instructor in Morehead State’s superintendent certification program; and 23 WHEREAS, Dr. Carter's leadership extends beyond Breckinridge County in 24 professional organizations, as he has served on the KASA board of directors and is one of 25 only two Kentucky superintendents on the School Superintendents Association (AASA) 26 governing board. Dr. Carter completed a three-year term on the KASA board 1 of directors and currently serves as past president of KASA; and 2 WHEREAS, Dr. Carter resides in Irvington, Kentucky, with his wife, Robin, and 3 their two daughters, Hannah and Chesney; and 4 WHEREAS, Dr. Carter’s leadership is driven by his belief in the transformative 5 power of public schools. He remains committed to ensuring that every student has the 6 resources, support, and opportunities they need to thrive; and 7 WHEREAS, this prestigious honor recognizes Dr. Carter's exemplary leadership, 8 commitment to public education, and dedication to the Breckinridge County community. 9 As Kentucky’s honoree, Dr. Carter will represent the state in the competition for the 2025 10 AASA National Superintendent of the Year; 11 NOW, THEREFORE, 12 Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of 13 Kentucky: 14 Section 1. The Senate hereby honors Dr. Nick Carter upon being named the 15 2025 Kentucky Superintendent of the Year. 16 Section 2. When the Senate adjourns this day, it does so in honor and utmost 17 commendation of Dr. Nick Carter. 18 Section 3. The Clerk of the Senate is directed to transmit a copy of this 19 Resolution to Dr. Nick Carter. 20
