UNOFFICIAL COPY 25 RS BR 1872 Page 1 of 2 XXXX 2/18/2025 2:45 PM Jacketed A RESOLUTION adjourning the Senate in honor and loving memory of James 1 Dion Deneen. 2 WHEREAS, James Dion Deneen was born on October 6, 1940, and was a proud 3 Kentuckian residing in Elizabethtown; and 4 WHEREAS, James Dion Deneen exemplified a life dedicated to service joining the 5 United States Army wherein he served proudly and with distinction for 22 years as a 6 military policeman; and 7 WHEREAS, James Dion Deneen began working at Fort Knox, Kentucky, after his 8 military service concluded, using his engineer's mind and dexterous hands as an exhibit 9 model maker and training device specialist; and 10 WHEREAS, a passionate and integral part of his community, James Dion Deneen 11 was a member of the Morrison Lodge No. 76 F&AM, the D.A.V. Chapter No. 003, 12 American Legion, and Hardin County History Museum Board of Directors, was president 13 of the Riasok Shrine Club and the Elizabethtown Lions Club, and served as a liaison for 14 Kosair Charities, a group in which he worked for more than 40 years raising money to 15 provide healthcare for children; and 16 WHEREAS, James Dion Deneen's heartfelt and eminently successful advocacy in 17 pursuit of helping others was evident in his avocations and avenues of service to others; 18 and 19 WHEREAS, James Dion Deneen continued to contribute to the esprit de corps of 20 local emergency responders by making skillfully crafted desk name plates and American 21 flags for them; and 22 WHEREAS, James Dion Deneen was preceded in death by his beloved wife Norma 23 F. Deneen and his beloved mother Olive B. Deneen; and 24 WHEREAS, James Dion Deneen was the loving and beloved father of Brian K. 25 Deneen, Kelly M. Deneen, and Matthew D. (Tanya) Deneen, as well as the doting 26 grandfather of Bronson (Taylor) Deneen, Trevor (Larra) Deneen, Chase Deneen, Julie 27 UNOFFICIAL COPY 25 RS BR 1872 Page 2 of 2 XXXX 2/18/2025 2:45 PM Jacketed (Ethan) McDougal, and Katelyn (Skyler) Osman, also being the doting great-grandfather 1 of Saige Deneen, Paisley Deneen, Eli Deneen, and Cooper Deneen; and 2 WHEREAS, James Dion Deneen is survived by his brother, Walter S. "Bart" 3 (Elaine) Deneen, his brothers-in-law, Wayne (Barbara) Sisk (Barbara) of Elizabethtown, 4 and Larry Stumbaugh, as well as his sister-in-law, Linda Sue Woolever; and 5 WHEREAS, James Dion Deneen passed from this Earthly realm on February 13, 6 2025; 7 NOW, THEREFORE, 8 Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of 9 Kentucky: 10 Section 1. The Senate expresses its most profound sympathy upon the passing 11 of James Dion Deneen and extends heartfelt condolences to all his family, friends, and 12 community. 13 Section 2. When the Senate adjourns this day, it does so in honor and loving 14 memory of James Dion Deneen. 15 Section 3. The Clerk of the Senate is directed to transmit a copy of this 16 Resolution to Senator Matthew Deneen, son of James Dion Deneen. 17
