A RESOLUTION recognizing April as Child Abuse Prevention Month. 1
WHEREAS, the mission of Prevent Child Abuse Kentucky in collaboration with 2
their partners, is to prevent the abuse and neglect of Kentucky's children through 3
advocacy, awareness, education, and training; and 4
WHEREAS, there are more than 330 Prevent Child Abuse Kentucky partners 5
throughout the Commonwealth, with at least one partner in each of Kentucky's 120 6
counties; and 7
WHEREAS, April 2025 has been declared Child Abuse Prevention Month by 8
Presidential and Gubernatorial proclamations; and 9
WHEREAS, it is important to ensure children and families are supported so that 10
communities may thrive; and 11
WHEREAS, Wear Blue Day for child abuse prevention will be observed on April 12
4, 2025; and 13
WHEREAS, each member of the General Assembly is encouraged to wear blue on 14
the final day of the 2025 General Assembly to help draw attention to the role each of us 15
plays in the prevention of child abuse and neglect; and 16
WHEREAS, the blue and silver pinwheel is the national symbol for child abuse 17
prevention and pinwheels are planted on the grounds of the Capitol to honor children and 18
recognize April 2025 as Child Abuse Prevention Month; 19
NOW, THEREFORE, 20
Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of 21
Kentucky: 22
Section 1. The Senate does herby recognize April 2025 as Child Abuse 23
Prevention Month in Kentucky to promote awareness and education on child abuse 24
prevention in Kentucky 25
Section 2. The Senate acknowledges Prevent Child Abuse Kentucky as a 26

Section 3. The Clerk of the Senate is directed to transmit a copy of this 1
Resolution to Prevent Child Abuse Kentucky, 2265 Harrodsburg Road, Suite 200, 2
Lexington, Kentucky 40504. 3
