HOUSE BILL NO. 1091
BY REPRESENTATIVE ABRAMSON
INSURANCE/PROPERTY:  Prohibits penalties against the Louisiana Citizens Property
Insurance Corporation in class action lawsuits
AN ACT1
To enact R.S. 22:2317, relative to the Louisiana Citizens Property Insurance Corporation;2
to prohibit the recovery of penalties in class actions against the Louisiana Citizens3
Property Insurance Corporation; and to provide for related matters.4
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:5
Section 1. R.S. 22:2317 is hereby enacted to read as follows: 6
ยง2317.  Recovery of penalties; class action7
Any action to recover a penalty or minimum measure of recovery against the8
Louisiana Citizens Property Insurance Corporation that is created or imposed by9
statute shall not be maintained as a class action.10
