AN ACT1
To amend and reenact R.S. 33:1448(M), relative to insurance for retired sheriffs and deputy2
sheriffs; to provide with respect to insurance premium costs for retired sheriffs and3
retired deputy sheriffs of the LaSalle Parish Sheriff's Office; to provide for eligibility4
for payment of premium costs; and to provide for related matters.5
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:6
Section 1. R.S. 33:1448(M) is hereby amended and reenacted to read as follows: 7
ยง1448. Group insurance; kinds; amounts; subrogation8

M. Notwithstanding the provisions of Subsection D of this Section, the10
premium costs of group hospital, surgical, and medical expense and the first ten11
thousand dollars of life insurance contracted for under the provisions of this Section12
shall be paid in full by the sheriff of LaSalle Parish, from the sheriff's general fund,13
for all sheriffs and deputy sheriffs retired from the LaSalle Parish sheriff's office who14
are at least fifty-five years of age Sheriff's Office who are entitled to receive benefits15
from the Sheriffs' Pension and Relief Fund. The provisions of this Subsection shall16
be applicable only to the sheriff's office of the parish of LaSalle. and who have either17
of the following:18
(1) At least twenty years of total service with the LaSalle Parish Sheriff's19
Office, and are at least fifty-five years of age; or20 ENROLLEDHB NO. 111

(2) At least thirty years of continuous service with the LaSalle Parish1
Sheriff's Office regardless of age.2
