LEGISLATIVE AFFAIRS: Changes the requirement that agencies mail a list of reports and
publications to each legislator to a requirement that agencies send such list by e-mail
AN ACT1
To amend and reenact R.S. 24:772(A), relative to agency reports and publications; to2
authorize agencies to e-mail lists of reports and publications to members of the3
legislature; and to provide for related matters.4
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:5
Section 1.  R.S. 24:772(A) is hereby amended and reenacted to read as follows: 6
ยง772.  Distribution of reports7
A. To comply with any provision of law and any resolution requiring or8
requesting the submission of reports to the legislature, it shall be sufficient to provide9
one printed copy of the report to the presiding officer of each house of the10
legislature. In addition, the agency shall send an e-mail notification which contains11
an electronic copy of the report to the David R. Poynter Legislative Research Library12
in such an electronic format as may be determined by the Legislative Budgetary13
Control Council. The David R. Poynter Legislative Research Library shall distribute14
a list of such reports to the members of the legislature via e-mail and, upon the15
request of a member, via paper copy. Additionally, each agency shall distribute a list16
of its reports and publications to each member of the legislature by mail e-mail each17
year.18

Abstract: Authorizes agencies to e-mail lists of reports and publications to members of the
legislature.
Present law addresses the distribution of agency reports to the legislature.  Authorizes the
submission of one printed copy of a report to the presiding officer of each house as adequate
compliance with any provision of law or any resolution requesting the submission of a report
to the legislature. Present law further directs the agency to e-mail an electronic copy of the
report to the David R. Poynter Legislative Research Library.  Present law also requires each
agency to annually mail a list of its reports and publications to each member of the
legislature.  Proposed law retains present law.
Present law requires this list of reports and publications to be sent to legislators via postal
mail.  Proposed law requires sending the lists via electronic mail (e-mail).
