AN ACT1
To amend and reenact R.S. 47:1923(D), relative to tax assessors; to provide relative to the2
payment of premiums for group insurance for certain retirees of the Acadia Parish3
Assessor's Office; to increase the years of service requirement for certain retirees;4
to provide for an effective date; and to provide for related matters.5
Notice of intention to introduce this Act has been published6
as provided by Article III, Section 13 of the Constitution of7
Louisiana.8
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:9
Section 1.  R.S. 47:1923(D) is hereby amended and reenacted to read as follows: 10

D.(1) In the parishes of Acadia, Allen, Ascension, Assumption, Avoyelles,14
Beauregard, Bienville, Calcasieu, Cameron, Claiborne, Concordia, DeSoto, East15
Baton Rouge, Franklin, Iberia, Iberville, Jackson, Jefferson, Lafayette, Lafourche,16
LaSalle, Madison, Morehouse, Natchitoches, Orleans, Ouachita, Plaquemines, Pointe17
Coupee, Rapides, Red River, Sabine, St. Bernard, St. Charles, St. Helena, St. John18
the Baptist, St. Landry, St. Martin, Tangipahoa, Tensas, Terrebonne, Union,19
Vermilion, Vernon, Washington, Webster, West Baton Rouge, West Carroll, and20
West Feliciana, the assessor shall pay the premium cost of group life, dental, group21
health, hospital, surgical, or other medical insurance for any assessor or assessor's22
employee who retires with at least twenty years of service who is at least fifty-five23

policy with respect to the payment of such premium shall be formulated and applied1
by the assessor of each parish listed in this Subsection.2
(2)  In Acadia Parish, the assessor shall pay the premium cost of group life,3
dental, group health, hospital, surgical, or other medical insurance for any assessor4
or assessor's employee who retires with at least twenty-five years of service who is5
at least fifty-five years of age or who retires with at least thirty years of service at6
any age. A uniform policy with respect to the payment of the cost of such premium7
shall be formulated and applied by the assessor of Acadia Parish.8
Section 2. This Act shall become effective on July 1, 2010; if vetoed by the governor9
and subsequently approved by the legislature, this Act shall become effective on July 1,10
2010, or on the day following such approval by the legislature, whichever is later.11
