Regular Session, 2010 HOUSE BILL NO. 213 BY REPRESENTATIVE WILLMOTT CRIME/BURGLARY: Creates the crime of simple burglary of a law enforcement or emergency vehicle AN ACT1 To enact R.S. 14:62.9, relative to the crime of burglary; to create the crime of simple2 burglary of a law enforcement or emergency vehicle; to provide for definitions; to3 provide for penalties; and to provide for related matters.4 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:5 Section 1. R.S. 14:62.9 is hereby enacted to read as follows: 6 ยง62.9. Simple burglary of a law enforcement or emergency vehicle7 A. Simple burglary of a law enforcement or emergency vehicle is the8 unauthorized entering of any law enforcement or emergency vehicle with the intent9 to commit a felony or any theft therein.10 B. For the purposes of this Section, "law enforcement or emergency vehicle"11 means a marked vehicle with fully visual and audible warning signals operated by12 a fire department, a state, parish, or municipal police department, a sheriff's office,13 or such ambulances and emergency medical response vehicles certified by the14 Department of Health and Hospitals that are operated by certified ambulance15 services, and emergency vehicles of municipal departments or public service16 corporations as are designated or authorized by the secretary of the Department of17 Transportation and Development, or by the chief of police of any incorporated18 municipality.19 HLS 10RS-533 ENGROSSED HB NO. 213 Page 2 of 2 CODING: Words in struck through type are deletions from existing law; words underscored are additions.
