PORTS/NEW ORLEANS: Prohibits the Port of New Orleans from expanding its territorial
jurisdiction
AN ACT1
To amend and reenact R.S. 34:1(A)(1), relative to the Port of New Orleans; to provide for2
the territorial jurisdiction of the Port of New Orleans; and to provide for related3
matters.4
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:5
Section 1. R.S. 34:1(A)(1) is hereby amended and reenacted to read as follows: 6
ยง1. Continuation; qualifications; appointments; terms; vacancies; territorial7
jurisdiction8
A.  Membership; qualifications; vacancies.9
(1) The Board of Commissioners of the Port of New Orleans, hereinafter10
referred to as "the board" is continued. The territorial jurisdiction of the Port of New11
Orleans shall include and be limited to the parishes of Orleans, St. Bernard, and12
Jefferson. The number of members comprising the board shall be seven, who shall13
be qualified voters, four of whom shall each have his principal place of business in14
the parish of Orleans, two of whom shall each have his principal place of business15
in the parish of Jefferson, and one of whom shall have his principal place of business16
in the parish of St. Bernard. The four members from the parish of Orleans shall fill17
the positions on the board to be designated as Positions D, E, F, and G; the two18
members from the parish of Jefferson shall fill the positions on the board to be19
designated as Positions A and C; and the member from the parish of St. Bernard shall20
fill the position on the board to be designated as Position B. 21
