AN ACT1
To amend and reenact R.S. 37:683(B)(3), relative to terms for appointments to the Louisiana2
Professional Engineering and Land Surveying Board; to provide relative to terms of3
certain appointments; and to provide for related matters.4
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:5
Section 1. R.S. 37:683(B)(3) is hereby amended and reenacted to read as follows:6

(3)(a) All appointments to the board shall be for terms of not less than five11
nor more than six years. All appointments shall be for such periods of time as to12
ensure that the terms of not more than two board members end per year, and shall13
expire on March thirty-first of the expiration year, regardless of the date on which14
the successor was appointed and qualified. Notwithstanding any provision of this15
Paragraph to the contrary, the terms of any board members appointed before March16
31, 2006, shall expire on March thirty-first of the calendar year following their17
original expiration year.18
(b) Notwithstanding any provision of this Paragraph to the contrary, the term19
of the licensed professional land surveyor scheduled to expire on March 31, 2010,20
shall be extended to March 31, 2012. The term scheduled to expire on March 31,21
2012, of the licensed professional engineer in government employment shall be22
extended to March 31, 2015. The provisions of this Subparagraph shall expire on23

Section 2. This Act shall become effective upon signature by the governor or, if not2
signed by the governor, upon expiration of the time for bills to become law without signature3
by the governor, as provided by Article III, Section 18 of the Constitution of Louisiana.  If4
vetoed by the governor and subsequently approved by the legislature, this Act shall become5
effective on the day following such approval.6
