WORKERS COMPENSATION:  Adds a pharmacy representative to the Workers'
Compensation Advisory Council
AN ACT1
To amend and reenact R.S. 23:1294(A)(2) and to enact R.S. 23:1294(A)(2)(l), relative to the2
Workers' Compensation Advisory Council; to provide for an additional member to3
the Council; and to provide for related matters.4
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:5
Section 1. R.S. 23:1294(A)(2) is hereby amended and reenacted and R.S.6
23:1294(A)(2)(l) is hereby enacted  to read as follows:7

(2) It shall consist of seventeen eighteen members appointed by the governor11
to serve at the pleasure of the governor. Each appointment by the governor shall be12
submitted to the Senate for confirmation.13

(l)  One shall be a representative of the Louisiana Pharmacy Association.15

Abstract: Revises the number of members of the Workers' Compensation Advisory
Council from 17 to 18 with the additional member being a representative of the La.

Present law provides for 17 members consisting of the following representatives:  two
representative of labor, two representative of business interests, one representative of self-
insured industries in La., one attorney licensed in La. who has represented employers in
workers' compensation claims, one attorney licensed in La. who has represented claimants
in workers' compensation claims, one representative from the La. State Medical Society, five
representatives from the general public, one representative from the La. Orthopedic
Association, the director of the office of workers' compensation administration, one
representative of the Chiropractic Association of La., one representative of the La.
Psychological Association. All representatives are to be appointed by the governor and serve
at his pleasure.
Proposed law retains present law and adds an additional member to the Workers'
Compensation Advisory Council who shall be a representative of the La. Pharmacy
Association.
(Amends R.S. 23:1294(A)(2); Adds R.S. 23:1294(A)(2)(l))
