APPROPRIATIONS/JUDGMENT: Appropriates funds for payment of judgment against
DOTD in the suit entitled "Jerry L. Goza and Gladys Goza v. Parish of West Baton
Rouge, et al."
AN ACT1
To appropriate funds out of the General Fund of the state of Louisiana for Fiscal Year 2010-2
2011 to be used to pay the judgment in the suit entitled "Jerry L. Goza and Gladys3
Goza v. Parish of West Baton Rouge, State of Louisiana and ABC Insurance4
Company"; to provide for interest; to provide for court costs; and to provide for5
related matters.6
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:7
Section 1. The sum of Four Hundred Eighty-Eight Thousand Five Hundred Forty-8
Nine and 20/100 ($488,549.20) Dollars; plus legal interest from February 11, 1997, until9
paid; plus court costs in the amount of Twenty-Three Thousand Twelve and No/10010
($23,012.00) Dollars, is hereby appropriated out of the General Fund of the state of11
Louisiana for Fiscal Year 2010-2011 to be used to pay the judgment in the suit entitled12
"Jerry L. Goza and Gladys Goza v. Parish of West Baton Rouge, State of Louisiana and13
ABC Insurance Company", bearing Number 28,196, Division "D", on the docket of the14
Eighteenth Judicial District Court, parish of West Baton Rouge, state of Louisiana.15
Section 2. The judgment provided for in Section 1 hereof shall be deemed to have16
been paid on the effective date of this Act and legal interest shall cease to run as of that date.17
Section 3. This Act shall become effective on July 1, 2010; if vetoed by the governor18
and subsequently approved by the legislature, this Act shall become effective on July 1,19
2010, or on the day following such approval by the legislature, whichever is later. 20 HLS 10RS-1588 ORIGINAL
