BY REPRESENTATIVE CORTEZ
AN ACT1
To enact R.S. 9:203(E)(8), relative to marriage officiants, judges, and justices of the peace;2
to provide for the extension of authority for certain federal magistrate judges to3
preside over a marriage ceremony for a specified period of time; and to provide for4
related matters.5
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:6
Section 1.  R.S. 9:203(E)(8) is hereby enacted to read as follows: 7

(8) Any United States magistrate judge of the Western District, Eastern12
District, or Middle District may perform marriage ceremonies within this state. The13
authority granted by this Paragraph shall be effective only from October 1, 2010,14
through October 31, 2010.15
