CRIMINAL/BUREAU CRIML ID:  Provides with respect to fees assessed for the benefit
of criminalistics laboratories
AN ACT1
To enact R.S. 40:2266.1.1(A)(6), relative to the Acadiana Criminalistics Laboratory; to2
provide for fees from traffic cases; to provide for the suspension of a portion of such3
fees; and to provide for related matters.4
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:5
Section 1.  R.S. 40:2266.1.1(A)(6) is hereby enacted to read as follows: 6

(6) The court, with the consent of the Acadiana Criminalistics Laboratory10
Commission, may suspend up to forty dollars of the fifty-dollar fee assessed in11
accordance with the provisions of this Section in any case prosecuted pursuant to a12
violation of any of the provisions of Title 32 of the Louisiana Revised Statutes of13
1950, a parish ordinance, or a city ordinance, provided that the case is within the14
boundaries of the Acadiana Criminalistics Laboratory set forth in R.S. 40.2267 et15
seq.16

Abstract: Provides that a portion of a fee assessed for use by crime labs may be suspended
in traffic cases.
Present law provides that a fee shall be assessed for criminal cases  prosecuted under state
statutes, parish ordinance, or city ordinances to be used for expenses of criminalistics
laboratories in this state.
Proposed law provides that in traffic cases, $40 of the $50 fee may be suspended by the court
with the consent of the Acadiana Criminalistics Laboratory.
