Regular Session, 2010 HOUSE BILL NO. 843 BY REPRESENTATIVE CHAMPAGNE CRIMINAL/BUREAU CRIML ID: Provides with respect to fees assessed for the benefit of criminalistics laboratories AN ACT1 To enact R.S. 40:2266.1.1(A)(6), relative to the Acadiana Criminalistics Laboratory; to2 provide for fees from traffic cases; to provide for the suspension of a portion of such3 fees; and to provide for related matters.4 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:5 Section 1. R.S. 40:2266.1.1(A)(6) is hereby enacted to read as follows: 6 ยง2266.1.1. Present law provides that a fee shall be assessed for criminal cases prosecuted under state statutes, parish ordinance, or city ordinances to be used for expenses of criminalistics laboratories in this state. Proposed law provides that in traffic cases, $40 of the $50 fee may be suspended by the court with the consent of the Acadiana Criminalistics Laboratory. (Adds R.S. 40:2266.1.1(A)(6))
