BY REPRESENTATIVE HOFFMANN
SCHOOLS/EMPLOYEES: Requests the State BESE to study school nurse salaries
throughout the state
A CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON1
To urge and request the State Board of Elementary and Secondary Education to study the2
salaries of school nurses throughout the state and to report study findings and3
recommendations to the House Committee on Education and the Senate Committee4
on Education prior to the 2011 Regular Session of the Legislature of Louisiana.5
WHEREAS, school nurses provide a necessary and vital service to the state's public6
education system; and 7
WHEREAS, currently, the state shares the responsibility for providing funding to pay8
the salaries of school nurses with each of the local public school systems; and9
WHEREAS, as a result, there are inequities among local school systems throughout10
the state with regard to how much each school nurse is actually being paid; and11
WHEREAS, these inequities can adversely affect employee morale and can12
negatively impact the state's ability to attract and retain high-quality school nurses to13
perform needed services in our schools; and14
WHEREAS, evaluating differences in how school nurses are compensated15
throughout the state could lead to policies that will eliminate these inequities and provide16
for a more fair and uniform process for paying school nurses.17
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby18
urge and request the State Board of Elementary and Secondary Education to study the19
salaries of school nurses throughout the state and to submit a written report of its findings20 HLS 10RS-956 ENGROSSED

Education prior to the 2011 Regular Session of the Legislature of Louisiana.2
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the3
president of the State Board of Elementary and Secondary Education.4
