HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON NO. 100
BY REPRESENTATIVE LEBAS
A CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON
To commend all persons who are registered as organ and tissue donors in Louisiana, and all
efforts to increase awareness among Louisiana citizens of the lifesaving benefits of
organ donation.
WHEREAS, organ and tissue transplants offer patients a new chance at healthy,
productive, normal lives and return them to their families, friends, and communities; and
WHEREAS, more than one hundred thousand men, women, and children currently
require lifesaving transplants; and
WHEREAS, every eleven minutes, another name is added to the national organ
transplant waiting list; and
WHEREAS, on average, eighteen people die each day due to the lack of organs
available for transplant; and
WHEREAS, a single donor can help over fifty people; and
WHEREAS, the mission of the Louisiana Organ Procurement Agency is to save and
enhance lives through organ and tissue donation; and
WHEREAS, the month of April has been recognized since 2003 as National Donate
Life Month.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby
commend all persons who are registered as organ and tissue donors in Louisiana.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby
commend all efforts to increase awareness among Louisiana citizens of the lifesaving
benefits of organ donation. ENROLLEDHCR NO. 100

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted
to the Louisiana Organ Procurement Agency.
