HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON NO. 106
BY REPRESENTATIVES HOFFMANN, CHANEY, KATZ, AND LI TTLE AND
SENATORS KOSTELKA AND WALSWORTH
A CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON
To commend R-Squared Productions upon the premiere of Flag of My Father, which was
filmed in northeast Louisiana in 2009.
WHEREAS, it is appropriate to commend R-Squared Productions upon the
memorable and historic occasion of the premiere of Flag of My Father; and
WHEREAS, Flag of My Father, which tackles veterans' struggles and family
dynamics, holds the distinction of being the first feature film shot predominately in northeast
Louisiana with high profile actors; and
WHEREAS, the film captures the struggles of an Army nurse and former Iraq
prisoner of war and focuses on strong patriotic themes which bring awareness to issues faced
by veterans; and
WHEREAS, the film's stars include beloved American actors John Schneider and
William Devane; and
WHEREAS, the talented cast and crew are walking the red carpet at the premiere of
the film on Friday, April 16, 2010, in West Monroe, Louisiana; and
WHEREAS, the premiere weekend celebration also includes a four-mile run with
proceeds donated to a veterans' charity, screenings of the film for veterans, live music, food,
military displays and booths, war reenactments, and a display of the actual Humvee blown
up during the filming; and
WHEREAS, the site of the exciting premiere and festivities is First West, the largest
Baptist church in the state, and before each screening, local Ouachita Parish high school
choirs and state university choirs are performing the National Anthem; and
WHEREAS, R-Squared Productions merits a special measure of commendation upon
the release of this much anticipated film. ENROLLEDHCR NO. 106

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby
commend R-Squared Productions upon the premiere of Flag of My Father, which was
filmed in northeast Louisiana in 2009, and will be shown for the first time on Friday, April
16, 2010, in West Monroe, does hereby extend enduring appreciation for the tremendous
pride and honor that the film brings to the state of Louisiana, and does hereby extend best
wishes to the company for continued success in the future.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted
to R-Squared Productions.
