HLS 10RS-2025 ORIGINAL Page 1 of 3 Regular Session, 2010 HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON NO. 113 BY REPRESENTATIVE EDWARDS COMMENDATIONS: Commends members of the U.S. Army War College participating in the Eisenhower Series College Program and welcomes them to La. in April of 2010 A CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON1 To commend the members of the United States Army War College participating in the2 Eisenhower Series College Program and to welcome them to Louisiana in April3 2010.4 WHEREAS, upon the memorable and historic occasion of their visit to the state of5 Louisiana, it is appropriate to commend and honor those from the United States Army War6 College participating in the Eisenhower Series College Program; and7 WHEREAS, the United States Army War College, located in Carlisle Barracks,8 Pennsylvania, represents the highest level of education offered by the military services and9 is designed to equip carefully selected senior officers and civilians with the competencies10 required of strategic leaders of the United States Armed Forces; and11 WHEREAS, more than three hundred students, including senior officers from all12 branches of the Armed Forces, senior civilian representatives from a variety of United States13 government agencies, and senior military officers from approximately forty foreign14 countries, attend a ten-month graduate-level course of study; and 15 WHEREAS, United States Army War College students examine national security16 issues and strategy development, regional affairs, current and future challenges for national17 defense, and the responsibilities of senior-level command, and students who successfully18 complete all the requisite requirements established by the Army War College for granting19 a degree are awarded the Master of Strategic Studies degree; and20 HLS 10RS-2025 ORIGINAL HCR NO. 113 Page 2 of 3 WHEREAS, annually, ten to twelve students at the United States Army War College1 participate in the Eisenhower Series College Program and travel outside Carlisle Barracks2 to engage in discussions with other students, academics, and the public about national3 security issues and the employment of military assets; and4 WHEREAS, for academic year 2010, participants in the Eisenhower Series College5 Program include Captain William G. Davis, Navy, director; Lieutenant Colonel David G.6 Bolgiano, Air Force, faculty instructor; and the following panel members: Colonel Donald7 E. Degidio, Jr., Army; Colonel Eric T. Judkins, Army; Colonel Jay R. Macklin, Army;8 Colonel Jeff Marlette, Army National Guard; Lieutenant Colonel Shaun McGrath, Air Force;9 Colonel Burl W. Randolph, Jr., Army; Lieutenant Colonel Alan F. Rebholz, Air Force;10 Commander Tim E. Riegle, Navy; Mr. J. Michael Sawyers, Army; Colonel Irving Smith III,11 Army; Colonel Steven Watt, Army; and Colonel Aaron A. Webster, Army; and12 WHEREAS, in April of 2010, Eisenhower Series College Program participants are13 visiting the Southeastern Louisiana University, the University of New Orleans, and the14 National World War II Museum in New Orleans; and15 WHEREAS, their actions and commitment uphold the highest traditions of the16 United States Armed Forces, and they bring tremendous pride to their families, their fellow17 citizens, and the United States of America; and18 WHEREAS, these individuals merit a special measure of commendation as they are19 welcomed with the utmost admiration and respect to the state of Louisiana.20 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby21 commend members of the United States Army War College participating in the Eisenhower22 Series College Program for their outstanding accomplishments, does hereby recognize and23 record for posterity their vital contributions and their tireless dedication to military24 excellence, does hereby express enduring appreciation for the tremendous honor they bring25 to the citizens of Louisiana upon their visit, does hereby sincerely welcome them to26 Louisiana, and does hereby extend to them best wishes for continued success in all of their27 future endeavors.28 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted29 to the director of the Eisenhower Series College Program.30 HLS 10RS-2025 ORIGINAL HCR NO. 113 Page 3 of 3 DIGEST The digest printed below was prepared by House Legislative Services.
