HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON NO. 12
BY REPRESENTATIVES SMILEY AND LAMBERT AND SENATOR AMEDEE
A CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON
To commend Wally Taillon of Gonzales for his outstanding accomplishments.
WHEREAS, born on November 27, 1945, Mr. Taillon is married to his beloved wife,
Rita James Taillon; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Taillon is a devoted father to his two children, Darrin and Kellie,
and has two grandchildren, Josh and Brandon, and one great-grandchild, John Paul; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Taillon graduated from Gonzales High School and attended Baton
Rouge Trade School, where he learned the trades of welding and ironworking; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Taillon began his career working as a welder at Avondale Shipyard
in Pascagoula, Mississippi; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Taillon returned to Gonzales and began working as an ironworker
and maintenance worker for fifteen years at local plants throughout the area; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Taillon was later self-employed along with his brother at Taillon's
Auto Parts for approximately ten years; and
WHEREAS, for the next fifteen years of his life, Mr. Taillon worked as an
ironworker and maintenance worker at Kaiser Aluminum and Chemical Plant in Gramercy,
Louisiana; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Taillon recently retired on March 5, 2010, after decades of highly
productive service as an ironworker and welder; and
WHEREAS, in addition to his professional contributions, Mr. Taillon has also been
highly involved with the Jambalaya Festival in Gonzales, Louisiana; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Taillon began cooking in the Jambalaya Festival in 1980 and won
the titles of World Champ and Champ of Champs in 1993; and ENROLLEDHCR NO. 12

WHEREAS, Mr. Taillon served with great distinction on the board for the tourist
center for several years and was instrumental in moving the Jambalaya Festival back to Irma
Boulevard after several meetings with former Gonzales Mayor Johnny Berthelot; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Taillon has also served with unwavering dedication as the president
of the Jambalaya Festival Association for the past ten years, and he still serves as a working
president today; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Taillon merits a special measure of commendation for the
tremendous honor and pride that he brings to his family, friends, and community, the city
of Gonzales, and the state of Louisiana; and 
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby
commend Wally Taillon of Gonzales for his outstanding accomplishments, does hereby
congratulate him upon his retirement from Kaiser Aluminum and Chemical Plant, does
hereby recognize and record for posterity his singular contributions to the Jambalaya Festival
Association, and does hereby extend best wishes for continued success and happiness in all
of his future endeavors.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted
to Wally Taillon.
