HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON NO. 145
BY REPRESENTATIVE BURFORD AND SENATOR CHEEK
A CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON
To commend Curtis L. McCune upon his retirement as mayor of Stonewall.
WHEREAS, it is appropriate to commend Curtis L. McCune upon his retirement as
mayor of Stonewall and to recognize him for his unwavering dedication to public service;
and
WHEREAS, Mayor McCune attended Stonewall High School and graduated from
Louisiana College, where he majored in chemistry; and
WHEREAS, Mayor McCune completed his graduate studies at Tulane University,
and he also attended numerous technical and managerial courses; and
WHEREAS, Mayor McCune worked for Thiokol Corporation for thirty-five years
of highly productive service, producing rocket motors and munitions for the United States
Armed Forces; and
WHEREAS, at Thiokol Corporation, Mayor McCune started out as a junior chemist
and was eventually promoted to chemist, chemical engineer, research chemist, chief chemist,
and quality director; and
WHEREAS, upon his retirement, Mayor McCune was the director of all quality
engineering and testing for the Longhorn Division of Thiokol Corporation; and
WHEREAS, for the past thirty-six years, Curtis McCune has served with great
distinction as mayor of the town of Stonewall, and he is retiring from this vital position on
Wednesday, June 30, 2010; and
WHEREAS, before serving as mayor, Mr. McCune spent two years as road
commissioner and devoted three years of his life to the service of his country; and
WHEREAS, over the years, much of Mayor McCune's time has been spent serving
with great distinction on local, parish, and regional committees; and ENROLLEDHCR NO. 145

WHEREAS, Mayor McCune is a loving husband to his wife, Nancy McCune, and
a devoted father and grandfather to his four children and nine grandchildren; and
WHEREAS, Curtis L. McCune merits a special measure of commendation for the
tremendous pride and honor that he brings to his family, friends, and community, the town
of Stonewall, and the state of Louisiana.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby
commend Curtis L. McCune upon his retirement as mayor of Stonewall, does hereby
recognize and record for posterity his outstanding accomplishments and manifold
contributions to his community, and does hereby extend best wishes for his continued
success and happiness in the years to come.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted
to Curtis L. McCune.
