ENROLLED Page 1 of 2 Regular Session, 2010 HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON NO. 213 BY REPRESENTATIVE GALLOT A CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON To commend David and Marilyn Ferguson upon the celebration of their thirty-seventh wedding anniversary and their retirement after long and productive careers in education. WHEREAS, as they celebrate their thirty-seventh wedding anniversary on June 9, 2010, and their retirement as widely respected and admired educators, it is appropriate to recognize and commend David and Marilyn Ferguson; and WHEREAS, in 1971, David graduated from Grambling High School and Marilyn graduated from Bogalusa High School, and they are both 1975 graduates of Grambling State University (GSU), where David earned a bachelor of science degree in health and physical education and Marilyn earned a bachelor of science degree in special/regular education; and WHEREAS, in 1981, David earned a master's degree from GSU, and Marilyn earned a master's degree from Louisiana Tech University; in 1982, both earned master's plus thirty designations from GSU; and WHEREAS, in Union Parish, David served for twenty-five years as a teacher, coach, and principal, and Marilyn served for eleven years as a teacher and educational diagnostician; and WHEREAS, in Lincoln Parish, David was a principal for ten years, and Marilyn was a teacher and educational diagnostician for twenty-four years; and WHEREAS, the Fergusons share a host of accomplishments, but none has produced a greater sense of pride than the births of their children, David Jr. and Krystal, and their grandchildren, Jalen and Jazlyn; and WHEREAS, throughout their marriage, the Fergusons have enjoyed hunting, fishing, and traveling together, and they look forward to continuing these activities upon their retirement; and ENROLLEDHCR NO. 213 Page 2 of 2 WHEREAS, the Fergusons' commitment to each other is a beautiful example of love and devotion that is an inspiration to their entire community, and they have touched the lives of all who know and love them; and WHEREAS, the wedding anniversary and retirement of David and Marilyn Ferguson are joyous and memorable occasions that merit sincere congratulations. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana hereby commends David and Marilyn Ferguson upon the celebration of their thirty-seventh wedding anniversary and retirement after long and productive careers in education, hereby expresses enduring appreciation for the tremendous pride and honor they bring to their family, friends, students, colleagues, community, and state, and hereby extends best wishes to this wonderful couple for continued happiness and success as they enjoy their future years together.
