CONGRESS: Memorializes congress to make no law that does not apply equally to
members of congress and other U.S. citizens
A CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON1
To memorialize the United States Congress to make no law that does not apply equally to2
members of congress and other citizens of the United States.3
WHEREAS, the signers of the nation's charter, the Declaration of Independence,4
proclaimed in that historic instrument on July 4, 1776, "We hold these truths to be self-5
evident, that all men are created equal"; and6
WHEREAS, members of congress and other citizens of the United States should be7
treated equally under the laws of the United States; and8
WHEREAS, there should be no disparity between how laws enacted by congress9
affect members of congress and how they affect every other citizen.10
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby11
memorialize the United States Congress to make no law that does not apply equally to12
members of congress and other citizens of the United States.13
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the14
presiding officers of the Senate and the House of Representatives of the Congress of the15
United States of America and to each member of the Louisiana congressional delegation.16 HLS 10RS-638	ORIGINAL
