HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 145

A RESOLUTION
To commend the Southeast Louisiana Council upon the celebration of the one hundredth
anniversary of the Boy Scouts of America.
WHEREAS, upon the celebration of the centennial anniversary of the Boy Scouts
of America, it is appropriate to commend the Southeast Louisiana Council for its excellence
in scouting; and
WHEREAS, a truly exceptional council of the Boy Scouts of America, the Southeast
Louisiana Council was founded on April 8, 1924, and for more than seventy-five years, it
has supported the mission of the Boy Scouts of America, which is to prepare young people
to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the
Scout Oath and Law; and
WHEREAS, with great distinction and effectiveness, the Southeast Louisiana
Council serves the parishes of Assumption, Jefferson, Lafourche, Orleans, Plaquemines, St.
John the Baptist, St. Bernard, St. Charles, St. James, St. Tammany, and Terrebonne; and
WHEREAS, in 2010, the Southeast Louisiana Council and councils throughout the
nation are commemorating the one hundredth anniversary of the founding of the Boy Scouts
of America; and
WHEREAS, the Southeast Louisiana Council merits a special measure of
commendation for the tremendous pride and honor it brings to the state of Louisiana and to
the Boy Scouts of America.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend the Southeast Louisiana Council upon the
one hundredth anniversary celebration of the Boy Scouts of America, does hereby
congratulate the council upon this memorable and historic occasion, and does hereby extend ENROLLEDHR NO. 145

best wishes to this superb council's scouts and staff for continued success and happiness in
all of their future endeavors.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted
to the scout executive/chief executive officer of the Southeast Louisiana Council of the Boy
Scouts of America.
