BY REPRESENTATIVES FOIL AND PATRICIA SMITH
COMMENDATIONS: Commends St. James Episcopal Day School in Baton Rouge upon
being named a Blue Ribbon School of Excellence by the U.S. Dept. of Education
A RESOLUTION1
To commend St. James Episcopal Day School in Baton Rouge upon being named a Blue2
Ribbon School of Excellence by the United States Department of Education.3
WHEREAS, St. James Episcopal Day School is a pre-kindergarten through fifth4
grade elementary school in East Baton Rouge Parish that has served the children of the5
parish for more than fifty years; and6
WHEREAS, St. James Episcopal Day School offers a 21st century education with7
state-of-the-art technology in every classroom; and 8
WHEREAS, the faculty and staff at St. James Episcopal Day School challenge their9
students to reach their full potential, be active in faith, be responsible for their learning, and10
be accountable for their actions, thus preparing these students to be leaders in facing the11
demands of their futures; and12
WHEREAS, in 2009, St. James Episcopal Day School was named a Blue Ribbon13
School of Excellence by the United States Department of Education; and14
WHEREAS, the Blue Ribbon School of Excellence Award is based on indicators of15
academic success, including scores on standardized norm tests, curriculum, technology,16
instructional methods, professional development, and school leadership; and17
WHEREAS, St. James Episcopal Day School excels in all of these categories and18

WHEREAS, it is appropriate to commend St. James Episcopal Day School and to1
recognize the tremendous pride and honor that this wonderful school brings to East Baton2
Rouge Parish and the state of Louisiana.3
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the4
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend St. James Episcopal Day School in Baton5
Rouge upon being named a Blue Ribbon School of Excellence by the United States6
Department of Education, does hereby recognize and record for posterity the outstanding7
accomplishments of the school's faculty, staff, and students, and does hereby extend to all8
members of the St. James family best wishes for continued success in their future endeavors.9
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted10
to Linda S. Chauviere, head of school at St. James Episcopal Day School.11
