HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 44
BY REPRESENTATIVE PERRY
A RESOLUTION
To express sincere and heartfelt condolences upon the death of Steve Racca of Hackberry.
WHEREAS, it was with deep regret and profound sorrow that the members of the
Louisiana House of Representatives learned of the death of Steve Racca of Hackberry on
Tuesday, April 20, 2010, at the age of sixty-one; and 
WHEREAS, Mr. Racca was a 1966 graduate of Jennings High School and a 1970
graduate of the University of Southwestern Louisiana in Lafayette; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Racca had been highly involved in the Hackberry community since
1970 when he began his teaching career as a vocational agriculture instructor at Hackberry
High School; and
WHEREAS, as a teacher, Mr. Racca worked with the Hackberry Future Farmers of
America livestock program and high school rodeo program, and he served with unwavering
dedication as coach for the Hackberry High School golf team and girls softball team; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Racca was also the founder and president of the Marshland
Festival; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Racca also served with great distinction as president of the
Cameron Parish Police Jury and was a member of the Sabine River Authority board; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Racca is survived by his wife of thirteen years, Donette "Donnie"
Racca; sons, Steve Racca, Jr., and Chris Racca; stepdaughters, Tara Wells and Lara Fenter;
mother, Rita Racca; brother, J.H. "Butch" Racca, Jr.; sisters, Jane Sneed and Judy
Andrepont; eleven grandchildren; and an array of extended family members and friends; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Racca was preceded in death by his first wife, Sharon Racca, and
his father, J.H. Racca; and
WHEREAS, with the death of Mr. Racca, Louisiana has lost one of her finest

WHEREAS, Mr. Racca, who was admired by all whose lives he touched, leaves
behind a rich and unique legacy and is greatly missed; and
WHEREAS, although the death of Steve Racca has left a tremendous void in his
community, his memory shall live on forever in the minds and hearts of all who knew and
loved him.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby express sincere and heartfelt condolences upon the
death of Steve Racca of Hackberry, does hereby recognize and record for posterity his
outstanding accomplishments and singular contributions, and does hereby extend enduring
appreciation for the pride and honor that this wonderful man will forever bring to his family,
friends, community, and state.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted
to the family of Steve Racca.
