ENROLLED Page 1 of 2 Regular Session, 2010 HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 56 BY REPRESENTATIVE JOHNSON A RESOLUTION To urge and request the Department of Education to coordinate a task force comprised of parish school board representatives in order to develop a school bus purchasing contract plan for the state and report any results, findings, or recommendations to the House of Representatives on or before February 15, 2011. WHEREAS, savings and efficiencies could be realized from purchasing school buses in larger quantities by multiple school boards; and WHEREAS, savings and efficiencies could be realized from multiple-year contracts which serve the long-term needs of school boards regarding school buses; and WHEREAS, the Department of Education under the provisions of R.S. 17:158.3 is required to assist school boards with the most economical acquisition of school buses; and WHEREAS, if given the necessary specifications, the office of state purchasing and travel can assist the school boards in executing the most cost-effective contracts for buses. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the Legislature of Louisiana hereby urges and requests the Department of Education to coordinate a task force comprised of parish school board representatives in order to develop a school bus purchasing contract plan for the state and report any results, findings, or recommendations to the House of Representatives on or before February 15, 2011. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the office of state purchasing and travel collaborate with the task force to assist in developing any necessary specifications for the state to enter into a contract for the purchase of school buses.
