HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 60
BY REPRESENTATIVES PEARSON AND CROMER
A RESOLUTION
To express sincere and heartfelt condolences upon the death of George Ernest Reine III of
Slidell.
WHEREAS, it was with deep regret and profound sorrow that the members of the
House of Representatives of the Legislature of Louisiana learned of the death of George
Ernest Reine III of Slidell on Thursday, April 8, 2010, at the age of sixty-four; and 
WHEREAS, born in Mandeville, Louisiana, Mr. Reine was a lifelong resident of
Slidell; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Reine was a second-generation contractor with more than forty
years of expertise in construction and land development, and he was the owner and operator
of Summit Contractors, Inc., of Slidell; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Reine constructed more than four thousand residential homes, local
neighborhoods, and commercial buildings and personally donated the entire grounds on
which Clearwood Junior High School was built; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Reine served his community in various capacities, including as a
former board member and past president of the Slidell Chamber of Commerce; past
chairman of United Way; past chairman of the Boy Scouts of America fundraising
campaign; and past school board member of Pope John Paul High School; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Reine also served on two local bank boards and helped charter the
St. Tammany Home Builders Association, which has more than one thousand members
today; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Reine was the first senior life national director with the National
Association of Homebuilders from the St. Tammany Home Builders Association, a position
he earned after twenty-five years of service; a past board member of the New Orleans Home
Builders Association; a member of the Sales and Marketing Council of the National Home ENROLLEDHR NO. 60

Builders Association; past chairman of the St. Tammany Home Builders Association Parade
of Homes; and a member of the Land Development Council of the National Home Builders
Association; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Reine's community involvement included tremendous support for
the St. Tammany Association for Retarded Citizens, the St. Tammany Economic
Development Foundation, the Miami Project to Cure Paralysis, the American Diabetes
Association, the American Heart Association, the Safe Harbor Program for Battered Women,
and the Easter Seals; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Reine and his wife, Diane, were chosen to serve as King and Queen
XI of the Krewe of Perseus in 1981, and he was also chosen to serve as King Samaritan
XXXIV for the Slidell Women's Civic Club in 1983 in recognition of his commitment and
involvement in the community; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Reine is survived by his loving wife of forty-three years, Diane
Parker Reine; son, Scott Ernest Reine and his wife, Renee Whitmarsh Reine; mother, Bertha
Miller Reine, brothers, Ronald Reine, Michael Reine, and Timothy Reine; father-in-law,
Albert Parker; three grandchildren, Holly Arroyo, Dustin Arroyo, and Connor Reine; and
an array of extended family members and friends; and 
WHEREAS, Mr. Reine was preceded in death by his father, George Ernest Reine,
Jr.; brother, Glen Reine; and mother-in-law, Wanzie Parker; and
WHEREAS, with the death of Mr. Reine, Louisiana has lost one of her finest
citizens; and 
WHEREAS, Mr. Reine, who was admired by all whose lives he touched, leaves
behind a rich and unique legacy and is greatly missed; and
WHEREAS, although the death of George Ernest Reine III has left a tremendous
void in his community, his memory shall live on forever in the minds and hearts of all who
knew and loved him.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby express sincere and heartfelt condolences upon the
death of George Ernest Reine III of Slidell, does hereby recognize and record for posterity
his outstanding accomplishments and singular contributions, and does hereby extend
enduring appreciation for the pride and honor that this wonderful man will forever bring to ENROLLEDHR NO. 60

his family, friends, and community, the city of Slidell, St. Tammany Parish, and the state of
Louisiana.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted
to the family of George Ernest Reine III.
