ENROLLED Page 1 of 2 Regular Session, 2010 HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 63 BY REPRESENTATIVE PATRICIA SMITH A RESOLUTION To express sincere and heartfelt condolences upon the death of television and radio personality Ed Buggs. WHEREAS, it was with deep regret and profound sorrow that the members of the Louisiana House of Representatives have learned of the death of Mr. Ed Buggs, on Wednesday, May 5, 2010; and WHEREAS, Ed Buggs was a longtime television and radio broadcaster in the Baton Rouge community since age nineteen when he started at WBRZ; and WHEREAS, he graduated from Glen Oaks High School in Baton Rouge, Louisiana; and WHEREAS, he attended Southern University and Louisiana State University, ultimately graduating from the Columbia School of Broadcasting in Los Angeles; and WHEREAS, in addition to broadcasting, he had an entrepreneurial spirit and engaged in a variety of business ventures from real estate to clothing manufacturing; and WHEREAS, he was awarded numerous prestigious awards for his cutting-edge professional efforts, as well as his extensive community service; and WHEREAS, he was a Christian and openly demonstrated his faith through bible study groups, church, and participation in prison ministry; and WHEREAS, he leaves to cherish his memory, his mother, former wife, one brother, one sister, one brother in-law, two nephews, one niece, and one god sister. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby express sincere and heartfelt condolences upon the death of television and radio personality Ed Buggs, does hereby recognize and record for posterity his outstanding accomplishments and singular contributions as a television and radio broadcaster, and does hereby extend enduring appreciation for the pride and honor that this great man will forever bring to his family, friends, community, and state.
