HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 67
BY REPRESENTATIVE GUINN
A RESOLUTION
To commend Welsh High School upon winning first place in the Louisiana High School
Technology Challenge.
WHEREAS, for the second consecutive year, Welsh High School has won first place
in the Louisiana High School Technology Challenge, sponsored by the University of
Louisiana at Monroe; and
WHEREAS, in winning the contest, Welsh High School defeated nearly three
hundred schools that competed in the online technology competition; and
WHEREAS, in the competition, twelve students from Welsh High School split into
different groups to solve various tasks in a four-hour time period; and
WHEREAS, the tasks featured in the technology competition included creating
PowerPoint presentations and spreadsheets and finding information on the Internet within
a certain time limit; and
WHEREAS, school officials at Welsh High School attribute the school's success in
the Louisiana High School Technology Challenge to its outstanding business department,
which prepares students for the competition; and
WHEREAS, Welsh High School merits a special measure of commendation for its
success in the Louisiana High School Technology Challenge and its dedication to academic
excellence.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Welsh High School upon winning first place
in the Louisiana High School Technology Challenge, does hereby recognize and record for
posterity the outstanding academic achievements of the students who participated in the
competition, and does hereby express enduring appreciation for the tremendous honor and
pride that the school brings to its faculty, staff, and students, the town of Welsh, and the state

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted
to Pat Deshotel, principal of Welsh High School.
