ENROLLED Page 1 of 2 Regular Session, 2010 HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 72 BY REPRESENTATIVE MONICA A RESOLUTION To commend the River Region Caucus and its member parishes for their cooperative efforts in improving the quality of life in the river region. WHEREAS, formed in 1998, the River Region Caucus is comprised of the governing bodies of St. James, St. Charles, St. John the Baptist, and Ascension parishes; and WHEREAS, its mission is to seek regional cooperation among the four participating parishes on issues and to work together as a regional alliance to solve common issues; and WHEREAS, because the region shares similar challenges, and values, and the parishes are a part of the same economic region, the caucus has several goals; and WHEREAS, one goal of the caucus is to increase awareness before state policy and decision makers on issues of infrastructure improvements, transportation safety, traffic management, community development, environmental planning and economic development; and WHEREAS, one goal is to work cooperatively as local governments to maximize their images, services, and communities, while improving the quality of life for their citizens through better communication and planning; and WHEREAS, the caucus also strives to identify opportunities to promote and advance the culture and interests of the River Region; and WHEREAS, the caucus also seeks to increase awareness and to educate the public and decision makers about the region. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend the River Region Caucus and its member parishes for their cooperative efforts in improving the quality of life in the river region.
