HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 74
BY REPRESENTATIVE RICHMOND
A RESOLUTION
To commend Pastor Corey Watson on his seventh pastoral anniversary.
WHEREAS, Pastor Watson has a heart for God and for young people in New
Orleans, Louisiana, and across the country; and
WHEREAS, Pastor Corey Watson was born in New Orleans on March 19, 1973; and
WHEREAS, he is married to Mrs. Melissa Watson; and
WHEREAS, they have two children, Lillian Hannah Watson and Corey Benjamin
Watson; and
WHEREAS, he is the pastor of one of Watson Memorial's mission churches; and
WHEREAS, he has served many years advocating for the youth in his community;
and
WHEREAS, Pastor Watson was ordained to be a minister in May 2000; and
WHEREAS, he was installed as pastor in May 2003 of the Watson Memorial
Westbank location; and
WHEREAS, Pastor Watson is a dual degree graduate of Tulane and Xavier
universities where he acquired bachelor of science degrees in electrical engineering and
physics; and
WHEREAS, he is employed by the D. Kanter Company consultant engineers; and
WHEREAS, he served as a counselor for at-risk children with the agency, Minority
Youth Coalition; and
WHEREAS, he facilitated seminars that disseminated information to young people
to help them avoid many pitfalls that affect young people; and
WHEREAS, he served as a manhood development counselor for the Family Center
of Hope, the community outreach arm of Watson Memorial Teaching Ministries; and ENROLLEDHR NO. 74

WHEREAS, he implemented a citywide forum for youth, utilizing his many years
of training and the vast experience of his father Senior Pastor Tom Watson; and
WHEREAS, under his energetic and dynamic leadership as musical director, Pastor
Corey Watson and the Mass Choir have been featured at the Essence Music Festival and the
New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Pastor Corey Watson on his seventh pastoral
anniversary.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted
to Pastor Corey Watson.
