COMMENDATIONS: Commends the Assumption High School girls track and field team
upon winning the 2010 District 8-5A championship
A RESOLUTION1
To commend the Assumption High School girls track and field team upon winning the 20102
District 8-5A championship.3
WHEREAS, the Assumption High School girls track and field team completed a4
sensational season, earning the title of 2010 District 8-5A champions by scoring 167 points5
at the district meet; and 6
WHEREAS, the district championship win was the culmination of another7
unforgettable season for the Lady Mustangs; and 8
WHEREAS, the members of the team performed at the highest level of excellence9
throughout the track and field season, and each of these great Lady Mustangs deserves10
recognition for her vital contributions to the winning effort; and 11
WHEREAS, the team was led by Barlitra Dirance, who won the 100-meter and 200-12
meter dashes, participated on several relay teams, and was named the Most Valuable Track13
Athlete of the district meet; and14
WHEREAS, other top finishers for the Lady Mustangs include Edrielle Barrow, who15
won the long jump; Cierra Bell, who won the discus; Chelsie Bergeron, who won the high16
jump and the 300-meter hurdles; Sage Crochet, who won the 1,600-meter and 3,200-meter17
runs; and Laquita Francis, who won the 400-meter dash; and18
WHEREAS, the Lady Mustangs also won the 400-meter relay and the 1,600-meter19

WHEREAS, the amazing accomplishments of the team could not have been achieved1
without the guidance and skills of Coach Chad Landry as well as all of the other individuals2
who have contributed to the success of the school's track and field program; and 3
WHEREAS, the team's outstanding 2010 season upholds the glorious tradition of the4
Lady Mustangs, and all Assumption High School alumni and fans recognize the immense5
pride and distinguished honor that the team brings to its school, community, and state.6
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the7
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend the Assumption High School girls track and8
field team upon winning the 2010 District 8-5A championship and does hereby extend best9
wishes to the players, coaches, and everyone involved with this fine track and field program10
as they celebrate their exceptional season and prepare for continued success in the future.11
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted12
to Coach Chad Landry.13
