ENROLLED Page 1 of 2 Regular Session, 2010 HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 88 BY REPRESENTATIVE BALDONE A RESOLUTION To commend the Assumption High School girls track and field team upon winning the 2010 District 8-5A championship. WHEREAS, the Assumption High School girls track and field team completed a sensational season, earning the title of 2010 District 8-5A champions by scoring 167 points at the district meet; and WHEREAS, the district championship win was the culmination of another unforgettable season for the Lady Mustangs; and WHEREAS, the members of the team performed at the highest level of excellence throughout the track and field season, and each of these great Lady Mustangs deserves recognition for her vital contributions to the winning effort; and WHEREAS, the team was led by Barlitra Dirance, who won the 100-meter and 200- meter dashes, participated on several relay teams, and was named the Most Valuable Track Athlete of the district meet; and WHEREAS, other top finishers for the Lady Mustangs include Edrielle Barrow, who won the long jump; Cierra Bell, who won the discus; Chelsie Bergeron, who won the high jump and the 300-meter hurdles; Sage Crochet, who won the 1,600-meter and 3,200-meter runs; and Laquita Francis, who won the 400-meter dash; and WHEREAS, the Lady Mustangs also won the 400-meter relay and the 1,600-meter relay; and WHEREAS, the amazing accomplishments of the team could not have been achieved without the guidance and skills of Coach Chad Landry as well as all of the other individuals who have contributed to the success of the school's track and field program; and ENROLLEDHR NO. 88 Page 2 of 2 WHEREAS, the team's outstanding 2010 season upholds the glorious tradition of the Lady Mustangs, and all Assumption High School alumni and fans recognize the immense pride and distinguished honor that the team brings to its school, community, and state. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend the Assumption High School girls track and field team upon winning the 2010 District 8-5A championship and does hereby extend best wishes to the players, coaches, and everyone involved with this fine track and field program as they celebrate their exceptional season and prepare for continued success in the future.
