COMMENDATIONS:  Commends Dannie K. Johnson upon his receipt of a bachelor of arts
degree from the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary Angola Extension
Center in May of 2010
A RESOLUTION1
To commend Dannie K. Johnson upon his receipt of a bachelor of arts degree from the New2
Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary Angola Extension Center in May of 2010.3
WHEREAS, it is appropriate to commend Dannie K. Johnson as he celebrates the4
significant educational milestone of obtaining a bachelor's degree; and5
WHEREAS, in May of 2010, Mr. Johnson is receiving a bachelor of arts degree from6
the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary Angola Extension Center; and7
WHEREAS, born on March 10, 1963, Mr. Johnson is a native of New Iberia,8
Louisiana, and a Southern Baptist; and9
WHEREAS, incarcerated at the age of eighteen, Mr. Johnson has spent his time in10
prison striving to better himself through education, passing the General Education11
Development tests (GED) and earning his high school equivalency diploma, completing12
numerous workshops and correspondence courses, and earning a variety of certificates; and13
WHEREAS, Mr. Johnson's skills include carpentry, operating heavy machinery,14
welding, administrative duties, marriage and family counseling, leadership instruction, and15
writing; and16
WHEREAS, interested in health and wellness and community services, Mr.17
Johnson's current goals are to continue to grow in God's grace, to help spread the light of the18

WHEREAS, Mr. Johnson is also an athlete who enjoys weightlifting, bodybuilding,1
racquetball, and basketball, and his other hobbies include stamp and coin collection and2
leather crafting; and3
WHEREAS, Dannie K. Johnson merits a special measure of commendation for his4
educational achievements.5
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the6
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Dannie K. Johnson upon his receipt of a7
bachelor of arts degree from the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary Angola8
Extension Center in May of 2010 and does hereby recognize and record for posterity his9
steadfast efforts towards self-improvement through education.10
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted11
to Dannie K. Johnson.12
