ENROLLED Page 1 of 2 Regular Session, 2010 HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 92 BY REPRESENTATIVE HOFFMANN A RESOLUTION To commend Dannie K. Johnson upon his receipt of a bachelor of arts degree from the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary Angola Extension Center in May of 2010. WHEREAS, it is appropriate to commend Dannie K. Johnson as he celebrates the significant educational milestone of obtaining a bachelor's degree; and WHEREAS, in May of 2010, Mr. Johnson is receiving a bachelor of arts degree from the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary Angola Extension Center; and WHEREAS, born on March 10, 1963, Mr. Johnson is a native of New Iberia, Louisiana, and a Southern Baptist; and WHEREAS, incarcerated at the age of eighteen, Mr. Johnson has spent his time in prison striving to better himself through education, passing the General Education Development tests (GED) and earning his high school equivalency diploma, completing numerous workshops and correspondence courses, and earning a variety of certificates; and WHEREAS, Mr. Johnson's skills include carpentry, operating heavy machinery, welding, administrative duties, marriage and family counseling, leadership instruction, and writing; and WHEREAS, interested in health and wellness and community services, Mr. Johnson's current goals are to continue to grow in God's grace, to help spread the light of the Gospel, to counsel youth, and to minister to those in need; and WHEREAS, Mr. Johnson is also an athlete who enjoys weightlifting, bodybuilding, racquetball, and basketball, and his other hobbies include stamp and coin collection and leather crafting; and WHEREAS, Dannie K. Johnson merits a special measure of commendation for his educational achievements. ENROLLEDHR NO. 92 Page 2 of 2 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Dannie K. Johnson upon his receipt of a bachelor of arts degree from the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary Angola Extension Center in May of 2010 and does hereby recognize and record for posterity his steadfast efforts towards self-improvement through education.
