AN ACT1
To enact R.S. 40:1379.3(D)(1)(i), relative to statewide permits for concealed handguns; to2
reduce training requirements on combat veterans; and to provide for related matters.3
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:4
Section 1.  R.S. 40:1379.3(D)(1)(i) is hereby enacted to read as follows: 5
ยง1379.3. Statewide permits for concealed handguns; application procedures;6

D.(1) In addition to the requirements of Subsection C of this Section, an9
applicant shall demonstrate competence with a handgun by any one of the following:10

(i) For personnel released or retired from active duty or the National12
Guard or reserve components of the Armed Forces for more than sixty months,13
possession of proof indicating combat service and an "Honorable Discharge"14
or "General Discharge Under Honorable Conditions" as evidenced by a15
Department of Defense Form 214 (DD-214) and completion of the following:16
(i) A three-hour course of instruction on the use of deadly force and17
conflict resolution which shall include a review of R.S. 14:18 through 22 and18
which may include a review of any other laws relating to the use of deadly force19
within the preceding sixty months.20

(ii) A one-hour course of instruction on child access prevention within1
the preceding sixty months.2
